Superlative Adjectives - ESL Worksheet

Today's worksheet involves practice with superlatives. I posted a similar worksheet on comparatives a couple of weeks ago. The worksheet is pretty comprehensive as to the rules, so it works better for intermediate and advanced students.

SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES
·
For adjectives with 1 syllable, use the
+ -est.
·
If an adjective ends in 1 vowel and 1
consonant, double the consonant, as in big
à the biggest.
·
If the adjective ends in –e, add only –st., as in nice à the nicest.
·
For most adjectives with two or more
syllables, use the most + adjective.
·
For two-syllable adjectives that end in
–le, add only –st.
